ABC Girls Golfers Win Small Schools Section Championship – Eagle News Online

CENTRAL NEW YORK — When it mattered most, the Christian Brothers Academy women’s golf team rose to the top.
Following its Onondaga High School League Championship on May 18, the Brothers traveled to Kanon Valley on Tuesday and took small school honors in the Section III tournament.
When all the scores were tallied, CBA, at 405, was just ahead of second-place New Hartford 415 while Westhill was third at 433.
Hana Kang led the ABC, shooting 96 to finish tied for eighth place among individuals and also qualify for this weekend’s New York State Public High School Athletic Association tournament at McGregor Links in Wilton.
Grace Catalano had a 97, which tied her with Manlius Pebble Hill golfer Amitees Fazeli one shot outside the state tournament cut line. Aubrey Mills and Anna Fuller both shot 106 for the Brothers
Fayetteville-Manlius Green was favored to claim the Big Schools crown in the Section Tournament but found themselves just behind Cicero-North Syracuse Blue, the two teams separated by just six strokes, the Northstars finishing with 399 and the Hornets at 405. .
FM Green was consistent, with Gabby Dardis, Bella Fullmer and Heirot Miller each shooting 101 and Alana Isley finishing just behind them at 102.
They all beat Chloe Tice’s 104 of C-NS Blue and Andrea Wheaton’s 107, but the 89 shot by Jessica Ricciardi that tied her for fourth place, as well as a 99 from Isabella Borte, were placed the Northstars ahead.
Jamesville-DeWitt finished fifth among major schools with a 430. Abby Neuman shot a 100 tied for 18th, while Jaeda Robinson and Sophia Ferris both finished at 108 and Cleo Shiomos had a 129.
East Syracuse Minoa Blue had a team total of 461. Jessica Griffith and Isabelle Chavoustie both finished at 110 ahead of Jenna Orlando (120), Shayla Samson (121) and Leah Chavoustie, who posted 129. MPH’s Parmees Fazeli had a 112, ESM Orange Khloe Welch shot 122 and Bishop Grimes’ Ashley Ince had a 140.
A day earlier, in the Boys’ Section West Division tournament, Manlius Pebble Hill finished second in the Large Schools Division behind Marcellus and Bishop Grimes did the same in the Small Schools Division behind Bishop Ludden.
Individually, the Cobras’ Vince Falgiatano shot a 78, behind only the Marcellus duo of John White (72) and Will Glass (77), while MPH’s Tommy Wildhack was fourth with an 84 and James Wildhack shared seventh with an 89, all of them will qualify for Section State Qualifying later in the week.
When they made it to Section State Qualifiers at Skenandoa Golf Club in Clinton, local teams thrived as five of them had golfers qualifying for the final round.
JD’s Mitchell Archer led the way, posting a 77 that tied him for fourth place, three shots behind leader Anthony Maglisco of Westhill, while Archer’s teammate Jackson Saroney shot 79 and Punn Chitaratlert had an 80.
With a 78, FM’s Velton Perry also advanced, as did Falgiatano with an 81 and ABC’s Joe Nicholson with an 80. ESM’s Zach Johnson and ABC’s Jack Gregory shot 81 to make the cut on the number.
