Cross River Governor Ben Ayade has approved a 100% increase in pay and welfare for state court workers, reports IgbereTV
The Governor’s Special Media Advisor, Mr. Christian Ita, revealed this in a statement Tuesday in Calabar.
He said the Governor announced the salary increase during the swearing in of the new President of the Customary Court of Appeals of Cross River, Justice Anjor Mbe.
The new salary scheme, he said, will come into effect from August 1.
Ita revealed that the salaries of state High Court judges would be increased by 100%.
The statement read: “Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal will also see their salaries increased by 100% while those of magistrates will be increased by 50%”.
Ayade also approved the immediate recruitment of 500 workers to the state Department of Justice in the first phase and the allocation of land to all state bailiffs.
The statement read: “As per state government policy, any sworn in court officer will have their official car ready for delivery.
“We have seen a massive vacancy in the Department of Justice caused by retirements.
“To this end, we have approved for the Chief Justice with the support of the Head of Service and the Civil Service Commission, the employment of 500 agents at the Ministry of Justice for the first phase alone.
