BBC One orders ‘Death In Paradise’ Christmas special, Danny John-Jules to reprise his role

Death in paradise receives a Christmas special. BBC One has ordered a 90-minute party episode to air in December, ahead of the show’s eleventh season premiere in early 2022. Danny John-Jules, who left the show in 2018, is expected to reprise his role as the show. ‘Office Dwayne Myers in the special.

“It’s always a pleasure to return to the Caribbean. And after four years of absence, the reinstatement in the fold should be transparent, because I already know all the new members of the cast, “said Danny John-Jules in a statement. “I can’t wait to bring Dwayne and this special tenth anniversary script to life.”

Death In Paradise was created by Robert Thorogood and follows a British detective and his local police team as they investigate crimes on the tropical island of St. Mary. The drama series is produced by Red Planet Pictures and stars Ralf Little, Josephine Jobert, Elizabeth Bourgine, Tahj Miles, Don Warrington and Shantol Jackson.

In the Christmas special, as Florence (Joséphine Jobert) leaves the island to spend Christmas with her family, the team welcomes Dwayne (Danny John-Jules) with open arms to help solve a murder case. Dwayne realizes that he has not only met Officer Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles), but that he has already arrested him! How will the team of old and new faces come together to unravel this murderous crime?

In addition to Danny John-Jules, the guest cast for the special includes: Mathew Baynton (Ghosts), Juliet Stevenson (Riviera), Stanley Townsend (Informer), Jocelyn Jee Esien (Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After), Anthony Calf (Poldark), Tessa Bonham Jones (The Trial of Christine Keeler), Elizabeth Tan (Emily in Paris) and Tariq Jordan (Law and Order: United Kingdom).

“We’ve been talking about a Christmas episode of Death in Paradise for years, so we’re more than excited to finally make one and work with Danny again,” commented Tim Key, executive producer, Red Planet Pictures. “We can’t think of a better place to spend Christmas than at Saint Mary – it’s still part of our tenth anniversary after all!”

While Tommy Bulfin, editor-in-chief of BBC Drama, added: “We are delighted to be spending our very first Christmas at Sainte Marie. We’re thrilled that Death in Paradise is bringing sunshine to BBC One’s party program. “
