CASUALTY welcomes two new stars to its line-up who have already played in Death in Paradise and Doctors.
Osi Okerafor, who starred in Death in Paradise and King Gary, and Elinor Lawless who starred in Doctors, Shakespeare and Hathaway, have joined the cast of the world’s oldest prime-time medical drama as new characters Matthew and Stevie.
The first to join is Osi who will play the character of Matthew, a backup clerk with a history of practicing medicine in hot spots around the world and a deep and lasting love for old flame Fenisha.
Matthew is expected to appear onscreen later this month.
This will likely leave fans wondering how Ethan will react to Matthew’s arrival on the team, if there is still a spark between Fenisha and Matthew, and how the three teams will work together in a tight-knit emergency team?
Later in the year, the BBC soap opera will celebrate its 35th anniversary with special episodes, including hosting another character.
Elinor will join Stevie, a new consultant that audiences will meet during these episodes.
The BBC also teased that viewers will be “also reunited with one or two old faces”.
Osi Okerafor said: “It is a pleasure to be part of the Casualty team.
“Everyone here is really nice and it’s a very exciting environment to work in.
“I am delighted that viewers see Matthew’s love for his patients and his willingness to do whatever it takes to care for them; this is a quality that I truly admire in him.”
Elinor Lawless said, “I am absolutely delighted to join the wonderful cast of Casualty!
“Stevie Nash is definitely a force to be reckoned with and looks set to ruffle some feathers in the Holby ED!”
Loretta Preece, producer of the Casualty series, commented, “I am delighted that Osi and Elinor are joining the Casualty family.
“As an actor, Osi has it all; he is handsome and easygoing, sensitive and unwavering, passionate and unpredictable. Osi has been very pleasant working with him and he and Olivia have a very special bond on screen.
