Casualty launches two new stars ahead of 35th birthday

Victim announced that Osi Okerafor (Death in paradise) and Elinor Lawless (Doctors) join the BBC One medical drama as Alternate Registrar Matthew and Consultant Stevie, respectively.

Okerafor’s character Matthew makes his debut this month and has “a history of practicing medicine in hot spots around the world and a deep and lasting love for old flame Fenisha.”

Lawless’ character Stevie will debut later in the year as Victim celebrates its 35th anniversary “with a few special episodes”.

“Stuffed with explosive drama, audiences can expect not only to meet new characters, but also to rediscover one or two old faces …” teases the BBC.

Loretta Preece, producer of the series Victim, said: “With Osi’s beautifully layered performance, we are slowly revealing deep undercurrents – he’s much more than a classic romantic leading man.”

“Along with Stevie, Eli brings new and dangerous energy to our world – she is charismatic, contemporary, compelling and at times very unsettling,” continued Preece.

“His wonderful character and additive backstory are [sic] an exciting part of defining an exciting new era for Victim as we enter our 35th year. “
