Schellsburg United Church has announced two upcoming events. A free lunch will be served to go only from noon to 2 p.m., or while supplies last, on March 13 at the church. The menu will include a fried fish sandwich, fries, coleslaw and chocolate pudding. No pre-orders will be taken. Check Facebook for more information or call 814-733-4811. A free distribution day to fill the void will be hosted by the church’s Called to Care outreach program from 4-6 p.m. on March 16. Non-food items will include toiletries, personal care, laundry and cleaning supplies. One bag per household will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The spring clothing distribution will take place from 3-5 p.m. on March 22 at St John’s United Church of Christ, 144 W. John St., Bedford.

Bedford Ministerium will host Lenten worship services Wednesday through April 6 in the sanctuary of Bedford Presbyterian Church, Public Square, at the corner of South Juliana and Penn Streets. Each service will take place from noon to 12:30 p.m. A different church leader will offer a meditation at each service and brown bags will be distributed after each service. All offerings collected during the services will be used to support the work of Bedford Food Outreach. Churches involved include Bedford Presbyterian, Trinity Lutheran, St. John’s UCC, St. James Episcopal, Bedford Church of the Brethren, Real Life Church and Mt. Pisgah AME Zion.

“Don’t Miss God’s Grace,” a new Easter musical written by local musician Ellen Stuckey, premieres at 7 p.m. March 25-26 at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, 300 S. Mulberry St., Martinsburg . Free entry.

The Easter Sunday celebration service will be at 10:30 a.m. on April 17 at Time Ministries Church, 5202 Business 220, Bedford. TMC Alive’s drama team will present “The Story of the Crucifixion,” a drama recounting the final events of Christ’s life and resurrection through the eyes of biblical characters. The morning will start with a free Easter breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

UCC St. Paul in Imler will be hosting a March 26 undersale. The cost of a 12 inch sub is $8 each. Submarines can be picked up between 11 a.m. and noon in the basement of the church. Call 814-276-3787 to order by March 24.

The Everett Adventist Church will not be selling strawberries in March. Church citrus sales will return in the fall.

Manns Choice Church of God has announced its calendar of Holy Week events. An Easter cantata will be presented at 10:30 a.m. on April 10. The Good Friday service will begin at 7 p.m. on April 15. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 11 a.m. on April 16. Photos with the Easter bunny will be available. Easter will begin with a Sun Rise service at 6:30 a.m. on April 17 in the East Beach parking lot section of Shawnee State Park, followed by morning worship at 10:30 a.m. at the church, located at 6150 Allegheny Road .

Lenten fish fry dinners will be served March 11, 18, 25, April 1, and 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, New Baltimore. Dine-in and take-out options are available. Take-out dinners can be pre-ordered by calling 814-733-2210. The menu includes baked and fried fish, fried shrimp, broccoli and cheese soup, clam chowder, baked potatoes, baked tomatoes, green beans, huluski, coleslaw, with choice of pudding or cake for dessert. Due to COVID, dinners will not be served all you can eat. The cost is $14 for anyone 12 and older, $6 for children under 12, and free for children under 5.

The Bedford Moms in Prayer group meets on the third Saturday of every month through May in the Bedford United Methodist Church library room and occasionally via Zoom to pray for students and school district staff in the Bedford area. The Freedom House Ministries gift and thrift shop, 176 Chalybeate Road, Bedford, is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Donations of gently used or new items will be accepted during shop hours. No clothing, stuffed animals, bedding or major household appliances will be accepted. The records of membership, births, baptisms, confirmations, communicants, marriages and deaths of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Messiah at Dutch Corner, Bedford, have been compiled and published in a book. The 325-page book retails for $25, plus $5 for shipping and handling. Family Fun Night, with activities for attendees of all ages, will be held at Time Ministries Church from 6-9 p.m. on the final Friday. The Fun Zone opens at 6 p.m. with activities.
