Cornerstone’s Lesli Salas Wins 4th TAPPS 1A National Cross Country Title

Lesli Salas of San Angelo Cornerstone Christian School won her fourth TAPPS Class 1A Cross Country Championship on Monday at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.

Salas, a senior, clocked 11 minutes, 54.9 seconds, more than a full minute better than second on the two-mile course.

Salas led the Lady Lions to a State Tag Team Championship. Cornerstone finished with 25 points to retain Texoma Christian School, which had 55.

Salas’ younger brother – David Salas, a sophomore from Cornerstone – also defended his boys division title, clocking a time of 16:54.9 over a three-mile course. He won the title last year in his high school debut.

Jasper Glass finished second for the Cornerstone Boys, who finished third in the team standings.

Alyssa Fowler finished fourth in the girls’ division, Priscilla Chacon finished eighth and Rylie Clements 10egiving the Lady Lions four runners in the Top 10.

The team was completed by Zoie Hollis, who finished 14eMireya Chacon (26)e) and Alexis Lane (54e).

The Lions squad was completed by Emir Campanini, who was 31stand Tucker Smith (32n/a) with Isaiah Rambaran (48e), Mark Bryant (81st) and Kyle Johnson (126e).
