Fonda-Fultonville Girls Win Cross-Country Invitational; Northville Boys Football wins 7-1

At the Fonda-Fultonville Invitational on Saturday, Matt Windecker of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake won the boys’ race in 16:03.05, while Isabella Miller of Fonda-Fultonville won the girls’ race in 21:25.83.

Host Braves took the next three spots in the boys’ race with Bennett Melita (16:14.90), Matheu Dettenreider (17:02.92) and Ty Sanges (17:09.66). Ben Smith of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was fifth in 17:15.91.

Burnt Hills won the tag team title with 30 points, with Fonda-Fultonville second at 46. Scahlmont (77), Glens Falls (100), Johnstown 128) and Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons (160) rounded out the field.

Rounding out the top five for the girls, Sophia Verbicky of Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons (23:50.12), Abbey Stubbs of Schalmont (24:25.91), Caroline Young of Fonda-Fultonville (25:03.56) and Lilliana Powers of Mayfield ( 25:05.44).

Fonda-Fultonville won the team title with 23 points. Schalmont, which finished with 32 points, was the only other team with five finishers.


In the Foothills Cup consolation match, Glens Falls beat Broadalbin-Perth 5-1 with Duvaney Mills, Gavin Rittenhouse, Landon Phipps, Tim Motsiff and Liam Burgess each scoring in the win. Darrin Mosher scored the Broadalbin-Perth goal.

Jacob Frank had three goals and two assists in Northville’s 7-1 non-league win over Loudonville Christian. Landon Ginter also had a hat trick for Northville, with Andrew Cordone also scoring in the win. Ethan Quadrini scored for Loudonville Christian.

In a non-league field hockey game, Granville took an 8-1 win over Gloversville behind four goals from Natalie Williams. Charlie Perron scored Gloversville’s goal, with Karyssa Hope providing the assist.
