CarePlus has a plan for chronic lung disease

CarePlus Health Plans Inc., Florida’s largest Medicare Advantage plan, expands its chronic disease plan offerings, adding CareBreeze (HMO C-SNP), a new plan designed to improve quality of life and optimize treatment for chronic disease. diseases of people living with chronic lung diseases, such as COPD.

The Florida Department of Health reported that 14% of Floridians had been diagnosed with chronic lung disease. The CareBreeze plan is available to people with pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension and COPD, which includes asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Alzheimer Caregiver Support Group

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the first Friday of the month at the Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.

Covid-19 test at DIS

The free Covid-19 test site is now located in the Daytona International Speedway parking lot at the entrance to Boulevard Bill France.

Testing takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Appointments are preferred, but walk-in appointments are welcome.

Understanding childbirth and newborn care

Halifax Health is running a four week series to help prepare mothers for the labor and delivery process.

Course fees are $ 40 per couple for the four week series. Labor and delivery tour included.

Think about the pink connection

Open to patients of all stages of breast cancer, including initial diagnosis, treatment and survival, this support group will meet at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21.

The Bridge4Hope group offers support to people who have lost a loved one following an opioid overdose.

West Volusia Covid-19 test site

The Volusia County government, Florida Department of Health, and cities have contracted a private company to open a testing site.

Nomi Health is located at Dewey O. Boster Park, 1200 Saxon Blvd., Deltona, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday with an outdoor walk-in site.

Patients will be asked about health insurance, but those who do not will not be turned away. Masks and social distancing are mandatory.

Covid-19 test at City Gym

The City of New Smyrna Beach, in partnership with Nomi Health, has a Covid-19 test site at the City Gym at 1000 Live Oak St.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The site will offer both PCR and antigen testing with a lead time of 24 to 48 hours for PCR testing and one hour for antigen testing.

People needing a test are kindly requested to bring an insurance card. If there is no insurance, they will not be refused. No appointment is required, but participants can pre-register by visiting nomihealth.com/fl.

Creative care

The Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach will host Creative Caregiving Monday through November 15 at 11:30 am at Harris House, 214 S. Riverside Drive.

The Volusia County Department of Health offers Covid-19 testing and vaccines at:

PCR tests are now available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday by appointment only for symptomatic people and those who have been exposed to Covid-19.
