JAMMU, 06 MAY: Initially, seventeen ‘Smart Anganwadis’ with state-of-the-art facilities were inaugurated on Friday by Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Barrister Purnima Sharma in different parts from the city.
JMC, Deputy Mayor Purnima Sharma was accompanied by Ward No-29 Councilor Surinder Sharma.
Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) CEO Avny Lavasa, JSCL Additional CEO Hitesh Gupta, CDPO Akanksha Kalsotra and other senior officials attended the occasion.
These 17 Anganwadis are designed by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) in such a way as to enhance the physical, mental and social development of children.
Several items ranging from furniture to stationary items were procured to convert the conventional buildings of Anganwadis into structures with better amenities.
Items purchased under Smart City Mission are chairs and tables for children as well as for visitors, preschool kits, whiteboards, stationery, utensils, storage bins, hygiene, Almirah, brackets and wall clocks.
Aganwadi centers are located at Janipur Colony, Trimurti Mandir, Paloura Soap factory, Mana Basti, Lakkar Mandi A, Tange Wali Gali, Moh. Ustaad Sweeper Colony, Christian Colony, Shakti Nagar, Subash Nagar D, Lakshi Nagar Sarwal, Shaheedi Chowk, Masjid Mohalla, Khust Ashram B, Dr Goel Lane, Kabir Colony A and Patel Nagar.
Speaking on the occasion, lawyer Purnima Sharma said the project aims to create a conducive learning atmosphere for children.
“Several public welfare projects are being implemented by Jammu Smart City Limited,” she said. She also commends JSCL for completing the projects within a stipulated time frame.
CEO, JSCL Avny Lavasa said the modernization of the Anganwadi centers will provide better early childhood care and make the facility more child friendly to foster the mental and physical development of children.
She also said that the aim of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) is to improve people’s quality of life by enabling local development and harnessing technology to create smart outcomes for citizens.
Councilor Surinder Sharma said these newly inaugurated Anganwadis would play a vital role in feeding the children.
“The colorful, knowledgeable murals and brightly colored furniture will create a child-friendly environment,” the councilor said.
