“Thankfully The Salvation Army is here to support families in need through this difficult season,” Temukum said. “We are here to help with groceries, prevent evictions and stop utility disconnections. Hamilton is full of families and people who work hard, love each other and are ready to help each other in difficult times.
He noted that the Salvation Army in Hamilton has been a proud partner in Hamilton for over 125 years and continues to serve.
For example, during this recent Christmas season, the Salvation Army of Hamilton was able to help meet the needs of families. Temukum and volunteers donated 1,128 toys to 188 children, provided more than 100 food cards and 100 food boxes (worth $80 each), and averted dozens of power outages.
“Dozens of families have benefited from our emergency rental and mortgage assistance program,” Temukum said. “We continue to provide families in need with gas cards, hygiene supplies, car repairs, case management, counselling, bus tickets and many other needs on a daily basis.”
He said The Salvation Army in Hamilton is proud to serve the community and encourage families in need to reach out.
