By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has warned against breaking the public peace in BCS formations around the world.

The organization, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Christ Shepherd Patriarch Edet Archibong, alleged that a certain Mr. Orlando Obu was trying to incite members of the public as well as members of the organization to breach the state law and order.

Archibong called on the Nigerian Police to take necessary action to prevent the said Orlando, who is said to be a renegade, from holding a proposed meeting on August 13, 2022 to appoint a parallel Board of Directors (BoT), a motion for which is before the Court of appeal preventing him and his lawyers from their attempt.

According to him, “Orlando does not have a locus standi in the organization nor the authority of the founder and spiritual leader, Chief Olumba Olumba Obu to convene such a meeting which is deemed illegal”.

The statement alleged that “In a desperate attempt, Orlando tampered with Chief Olumba Olumba Obu’s seal and other related matters as contained in the 6/6/2022 letter which is now under police investigation.

“Orlando Obu is neither a director nor principal officer of BCS, and of course, does not have the authority of our leader to write or publish such a letter to call a general meeting.

“The judgment of the Federal High Court of Calabar on the basis of which Orlando claims to convene the said meeting of August 13, 2022 is the subject of an appeal before the Court of Appeal as well as a motion filed for notification of stay of execution duly served on him.”

Archibong further pointed out that his alleged desperate attempts amounted to undue interference in the administration of justice, warning their members to disregard his plots.

The spokesperson called on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the police and other statutory bodies to disregard the alleged election or appointment of the directors of the organization, as it could lead to a breakdown of the public order.
